Vijay makanjee

Vijay Makanjee is a development practitioner and activist supporting and working with a range of not profit organisations in the Eastern Cape. For over 30 years he has worked in both rural and urban development projects including some stints in the private and public sectors.

He was part of the team that developed amongst other things the Eastern Cape industrial strategy and the EC Jobs strategy.

Vijay is chairperson of Ruliv (Rural & Urban Livelihoods) and board member of organisations in the development space. More recently he was a role-player in the formation of the HAG – Human Settlements Action Group based in Gqeberha which provides professional technical support services to poor people.

Aside from having a keen interest in technology, skills development and organic farming, Vijay enjoys banging away on a djembe drum.
